3 Daily/Weekly Portraits

September 14, 2011

Patrick Dougherty’s stick sculpture at the Hui No’Eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao is coming right along. I hung out for a bit this afternoon and captured some portraits of the volunteers. Team work is the key. It’s great watching Patrick conduct the bending and shaping of the twigs and saplings as all the volunteers hold, bend, tie, and wrangle the sticks with him.  I’ll post more of Dougherty and the sculpture in coming posts. You can also check out the progress on the Hui’s blog:

(Ah, the 3rd portrait wasn’t a volunteer. It’s a horse I stopped to say “hi” to on my way home.)
