Walk, Bike, Run.

May 29, 2014

I took some photos for Hawai’i Magazine’s story on the Kahakapao Bike Trail in the Makawao Forest Reserve on the west-facing slope of Haleakalā.  Intertwined amidst the lush forest is a bike trail and a hiking trail. Whether you’re using your feet or your bike you’ll be visually entertained by the beautifully diverse forest of ferns, eucalyptus, pines, tropical ash, ‘le’le, mamaki, kupukupu and pilo. Mix all of that green with some red earth and all of the birds that play in those trees and you’ve got one magical hike/ride.  Watch out for the little wood nymphs and forest fairies at twilight…
