About Me

My name is Sue. I lived in Los Angeles for 14 years then moved to the beautiful island of Maui in August 2011. Both places are home to me. Seattle is too.  I’m sure there are more places that will feel like home once I’m there. I take pictures for a living and for pleasure. I shoot for a variety of magazines which is addicting because I’m curious about people. Magazine assignments lead me to people doing interesting things. I’ve always loved observing people’s faces and mannerisms. I feel the same about trees and large rocks.  I love to eat brie, bread and olives.  I love music. I wish I could play in a rock band. I’d also like to play in a symphony. I have epic, movie like dreams. It can be tiring, but it’s fun. I like to travel. I like being home too. This paragraph sounds like I’m thinking out loud. I am.

Love, love, love the new site! I can get lost in individual shots, just begging to have a short story or poem to accompany them. Thanks, Sue.

Good for you – where on Maui? Care if we share some in our “Aloha Friday” posts for all the homesick islanders stuck on the mainland? http://www.mainlandkamaainas.com

Aloha! Thanks for visiting my blog. I just looked at yours and now that I’ve been living here (for just 9 months) I can understand the pull of the island once you’re off it! I do have my moments where I crave some city culture again, but then I’d want to come back to what feels healing about the island – the green green, the blue blue, the diverse landscape of Maui and the sounds of where I live in upcountry… the animals… yes. Share away!

Hi Sue – I just happened upon your blog via Maui No Ka Oi Magazine’s Facebook page. I just wanted to tell you that I love your posts. I just recently moved to Maui in July and I really can relate to how you have captured being here. I started working on a blog recently and it is really hard to capture your voice and balance it with creativity as well – which is what you have done. Thanks again and I feel inspired to keep going!!

      Laurie,
Welcome to the island! Thank you so much for your comment. You made my day.
Living on an island is very much what working as a freelancer can feel like. Sometimes I feel like a speck on the map that no one notices. I don’t feel that all the time, just some of the time. So I do appreciate you visiting my site and commenting – that inspires me!
I hope we bump into each other on our speck in the sea! Warm Alohas, Sue
